Induction cooking is gaining popularity in our kitchens and sometimes we fear that it could replace the traditional gas and stove cooktops.
Copper cookware has been the number one choice for customers for a very long time but with the continuous innovation by cookware brands, it is possible that people will begin to consider other alternatives.
It is funny how people keep asking “does copper work on Induction?” when copper clearly lacks the magnetic properties required to work in an induction stovetop. I and my team are here for you regarding any matter on copper cookware and induction.
HOW DOES INDUCTION COOKING WORK?
Many of you may not be familiar with induction cooking so let’s talk about how induction works. Induction cooking is a two-part system. The first part is the coil of copper wire.
When an electric current is passed through the coil, it creates an electromagnetic field of energy. All by itself, nothing happens.
The control flashes the letter ‘F’ telling you that it failed to detect a pan. Electromagnetic is around us every day in the form Of AM and FM radio, cell phones, wireless laptops; microwaves, infrared and visible light.
Now, let’s talk about the second part of this two-part system. The second part is the pan. Not all pans work on an induction cooktop. Pans that are 100% copper, a100% aluminum, or nonmagnetic stainless steel, won’t work.
The bottom of the pan must have some iron content. The easiest way to tell if your pan has an iron base core is to use a magnet. If the magnet is fixed to the bottom of the pan then that pan will work on an induction cooktop.
Another thing you need to know about induction cooktop is that when you’re cooking, the entire element does not heat and the entire surface doesn’t glow red.
The coil below the ceramics surface in an induction cooktop does not heat and will not glow. All the electromagnetic energy passes through the cooktop and into the pan.

Do you know that when cooking with an induction hob/cooker, your pan gets hotter two to four minutes faster than other cooktops?
Induction cooking provides fast heating and more safety than other cookers. Induction hob/cooker gives you precise control over the temperature compared to cooktops like gas and electric.
Temperature control ensures that you always have consistent results and it reduces the risk of overcooking or undercooking.
An induction cooker makes cooking easy because it is more energy-efficient than a gas stovetop. With gas stovetops, a lot of flame heats around the pan rather than the bottom of your cookware.
Induction hobs work by producing at least 50% more power on output than a traditional hob as induction technology uses magnetic currents to directly heat your pots and pans.
This cooker is also very safe because there is no flame to ignite fumes or cause burns and the surface won’t get hot when the wrong cookware is placed in the cooking one.
